Local Chorus Back to the news

For publishers

Local Chorus reads 163 local outlets and shows readers abroad what local media are reporting, in their language, with a link to every outlet that covered a story. This page explains what we take from you, what we show, and how to change it.

What we read

Feeds you publish for machines to read: RSS and Atom feeds, news sitemaps, public JSON news lists and public Telegram channel previews. Each is checked every 10 to 60 minutes (most every 15), one request at a time. When several outlets report the same event and we write a story about it, we also read the article pages we link to, at most one per outlet per story, so the summary can rely on what you reported rather than a one-line feed excerpt. We follow your robots.txt for those pages, and we never log in, get past paywalls or download whole sites.

Our crawler identifies itself as LocalChorusBot (user agent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LocalChorusBot/1.0; +https://localchorus.com/publishers)).

What readers see

Opting out

To keep us off your article pages, disallow LocalChorusBot in your robots.txt; we check it daily. To be left out entirely, tell us which outlet you represent and we will stop reading it, usually within a day. You can also ask us to correct how a story describes your reporting, or to remove a link to your article.

Write to [email protected] from an address at your outlet's domain, with the outlet name and, for a correction, the story link.

Being added

Run a local outlet in a country we cover, or one we should cover? Send us your feed address the same way. Read How it works for how sources are chosen and weighed.
