Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi tops UAE in five specialties on Newsweek 2027 list
Versión 2: Aletihad's English edition joins WAM and Gulf News in reporting the same Newsweek 2027 rankings result, adding a second business-outlet account of the five UAE first-place specialties; no facts in the earlier report were contradicted or withdrawn.
En breve
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has been ranked first in the UAE in five specialties — cardiac surgery, cardiology, nephrology, neurology and pulmonology — in Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 rankings, produced with data firm Statista. The reports say it is the first time the hospital has appeared in the global list, and that it also features in the oncology field through its Fatima bint Mubarak Center. Fifteen hospitals from the UAE appear in the 2027 global specialized rankings, according to WAM, Aletihad and Gulf News.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has been ranked first in the UAE across five specialties in Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 rankings: cardiac surgery, cardiology, nephrology, neurology and pulmonology. The state news agency WAM, Aletihad and Gulf News all reported the placements on Monday, describing the hospital as the top-ranked in the country in those five fields. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
According to the reports, the list is produced by Newsweek in collaboration with the data firm Statista, recognises leading hospitals across 13 medical fields and serves as an international benchmark for specialised care. All three outlets said it is the first time Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has been included in the global rankings, and that the result follows its inclusion in Newsweek's Best Specialized Hospitals Middle East 2026 rankings. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Dr. Georges-Pascal Haber, chief executive of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, said being recognised among the world's best specialised hospitals for the first time was “an important milestone” reflecting the hospital's commitment to care in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and the wider region. He said recognition across five specialties was “a testament to the depth of our clinical expertise and the strength of our teams in delivering complex care at the highest standards”. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
The reports also state that the hospital features in the global oncology rankings, which they link to the comprehensive cancer care offered at its Fatima bint Mubarak Center. In total, 15 hospitals from the UAE appear in the 2027 global specialised rankings, the outlets said. Gulf News attributed the statement that this signals the country's growing role in international healthcare to the hospital. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Beyond the ranking, WAM and Aletihad listed four Department of Health – Abu Dhabi centres of excellence held by the hospital, for adult cardiac surgery, stroke, adult multi-organ transplantation and breast cancer, along with the Joint Commission International Gold Seal of Approval. Both texts end mid-sentence in that list of distinctions, so the remaining accreditations were not available. Gulf News said the hospital also holds several international accreditations and the four national centres of excellence, and reported that it says it will keep building up advanced care in the UAE and so help make Abu Dhabi a leading global healthcare hub. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Por qué importa
The ranking is an external benchmark for specialised care in the UAE, and official and business outlets present the hospital's showing — alongside 15 UAE hospitals on the list — as evidence of the country's clinical capability and of Abu Dhabi's ambition as a healthcare hub. The documents give no data on patient outcomes, costs or how hospitals were scored, so the significance rests on the ranking itself and on how the outlets chose to frame it.
