Former Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic acknowledged defeat in the snap parliamentary election held on October 25, telling supporters that the Students' List had won, Russian-language outlets reported. He said a stratified sample indicated the opposition would take between 135 and 140 seats, while his side would receive around 105. He also said final results had not yet arrived. [ 5 , 6 , 8 ]

Kommersant separately cited preliminary figures putting the Students' List at 52% of votes and 138 seats, compared with 39.3% and 104 seats for Vucic's United Serbia bloc. The newspaper said that result would give the opposition an absolute majority, which requires at least 126 seats. It stressed that official results had not been announced. The preliminary figures differ from the approximate projections Vucic gave in his concession. [ 2 ]

Meduza reported that Vucic initially said no other group had entered parliament, then added that some national-minority lists might have won seats. Citing Danas, it described songs, car horns and whistles in streets across Serbia after the concession, with residents celebrating the Students' List's victory from their balconies. The movement formally emerged just over a month earlier but grew out of protests that began in 2024, according to Meduza. [ 8 ]

Vucic resigned as president at the end of September and planned to become prime minister if his side won, Meduza reported. Kommersant said he promised not to obstruct his opponents through lawsuits, complaints or administrative-court appeals. He nevertheless blamed a purported deep state for his defeat, while RBC reported his allegations that US and EU-based forces had prepared the loss. These allegations were presented as his claims. Por qué importa

The projected result would give the opposition an absolute parliamentary majority, for which 126 seats are required, Kommersant reported. Vucic had intended to become prime minister if his side won, according to Meduza.
