The airports of Kazan and Nizhnekamsk suspended flight handling on 8 October, Interfax reported, citing Russia's aviation agency Rosaviatsia. "Temporary restrictions on receiving and sending off aircraft have been introduced," the agency said in a message on its channel in the Max messenger, according to Interfax. TASS and RIA Novosti also reported the restrictions at both airports. [ 3 , 4 , 5 ]
A day earlier, on 7 October, TASS and RIA Novosti reported temporary restrictions at Kazan airport; RIA Novosti said they applied to receiving and sending off aircraft. None of the reports gave a reason for the restrictions, said how long they would last or gave figures on affected flights. [ 1 , 2 ]
