Sun Lei put forward four points, CLS reported. The first is to anchor the strategic direction by always placing development at the centre of the international agenda, combining the goals of the 2030 Agenda with national realities, improving medium- and long-term strategies and maintaining policy continuity and stability. He also called for deepening UN reform, with development agencies improving quality and efficiency, helping countries improve development plans and setting up long-term, stable implementation and assessment mechanisms. The second point is to respond to people's expectations in areas such as poverty reduction, food and energy security and environmental protection. CLS's summary did not include the remaining points. Xinhua published a report with the same headline on Oct 6, but its summary and article text were not available. [ 2 ]
Why it matters
