Weather reports in Japan forecast sunshine across much of the three-day holiday beginning October 10 and ending on Sports Day, October 12. TBS's October 10 report said many areas would continue to experience clear autumn weather under a broad high-pressure system. [ 1 , 5 , 7 , 12 ]
The reports cautioned that mornings and evenings would differ substantially in temperature from daytime, particularly in sunny inland areas. TBS advised readers to adjust clothing and manage their health accordingly. It also warned that temperatures could reach 30°C or higher in some western areas, requiring continued precautions against heatstroke. [ 3 , 9 , 10 ]
Rain remained possible in Kyushu and Okinawa. TBS's October 9 evening forecast said moist air would bring rain to those areas on Saturday, with periods when rainfall could intensify. Another TBS forecast included the possibility of showers in northern Hokkaido during the holiday. [ 8 , 10 ]
Livedoor News forecast sunshine through the holiday across Hokuriku, Kanto, Tokai, Kinki, Chugoku and Shikoku. It said southern Kyushu could see cloud or rain on October 10 followed by sunny intervals on October 11-12. Okinawa was forecast to have rain on October 10, cloud on October 11 and sunny intervals on Sports Day. [ 5 ]
The outlets also warned coastal visitors to watch for swell and high waves on the Pacific side. Nippon TV's earlier forecast said the movement of Typhoon No. 29 could bring higher waves to the Kanto coast, Izu Islands and Ogasawara.
