Nizhny Novgorod's Chkalov airport was placed under temporary flight restrictions twice within about a day, Russian news agencies reported. According to RIA Novosti, the aviation agency Rosaviatsia said early on 8 October that the airport was receiving and dispatching flights only with approval from the relevant authorities because temporary restrictions on the use of airspace had been introduced around it. Rosaviatsia said the measures were taken to ensure flight safety, that changes to the flight schedule were possible, and that passengers could check the status of their flights on the airport's online board. TASS and RIA Novosti reported on the morning of 8 October that the restrictions had been lifted and that the airport had resumed receiving and dispatching aircraft. [ 2 , 3 ]
Late on 8 October, restrictions were introduced again. Interfax, citing a message from Rosaviatsia on its channel in Max, reported that temporary restrictions on receiving and dispatching aircraft had been introduced at Nizhny Novgorod (Chkalov) airport and that similar restrictions applied at Tambov's Donskoye airport, with both airports temporarily not serving flights. TASS and RIA Novosti also reported the new restrictions at Nizhny Novgorod. On the morning of 9 October, TASS reported that the restrictions at both the Nizhny Novgorod and Tambov airports had been lifted, and RIA Novosti reported the same for Nizhny Novgorod.
