San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel will miss at least a couple of weeks because of a hamstring strain, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday, according to Newsweek. The 30-year-old was injured in Sunday's 32–29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Samuel left the game in the third quarter after a hit by Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas, stayed on the ground and was carried off the field, the outlet reported. [ 11 ]
The absence adds to injuries at receiver for the undefeated 49ers. Newsweek reported that Christian Kirk, Demarcus Robinson and De'Zhaun Stribling are on the injured list, while Ricky Pearsall will miss the rest of the season following surgery to reconstruct his PCL. San Francisco finished the Week 5 game with four healthy wide receivers. Mike Evans had 113 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Watkins is second among the team's healthy receivers with two catches this season. [ 11 ]
Samuel has recorded 206 receiving yards, 79 rushing yards and three touchdowns across five games, as well as 281 yards on 11 kickoff returns, Newsweek reported. He spent seven seasons with the 49ers before joining the Washington Commanders in 2025 and returned to San Francisco this offseason on a one-year contract. The report said Shanahan's update means he will miss next week's home game against the Commanders on Monday Night Football. He could also miss the Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons before the 49ers' bye. Associated Press had reported Sunday that Samuel left with a hamstring injury, and Reuters reported that he would not return against Seattle. [ 7 , 8 , 11 ]
