Hoshino Resorts, based in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, announced on 21 October that it will open the resort hotel Resonare Fukui in Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture, on 10 September 2027, according to Nikkei. Nikkei said it is the company's first entry into Fukui Prefecture and the first in the Hokuriku region for the Resonare brand. It said the hotel is expected to have about 100 rooms. [ 1 ]
Nippon TV News said Hoshino Resorts operates 82 lodging facilities nationwide and that the hotel is under construction in Katsuyama. Its headline gives the opening as 1 September, but its article text gives 10 September. Reservations are scheduled to open in April 2027, Nippon TV and Mynavi News both reported. [ 2 , 3 ]
The hotel stands in Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest. Its concept is a designer hotel in the dinosaur forest. Mynavi News placed the forest in Nagaoyama General Park and said the exterior uses a cylindrical, pinecone-inspired form to blend with the red pines of Nagaoyama, and the interiors take fossil-bearing strata and earth as themes. A wellness floor on the top level includes a panorama pool with views of the Katsuyama mountains and the Kuzuryu River, Mynavi News reported. Nippon TV described the main attraction as an outdoor heated pool on the eighth floor and said the company wants guests to relax in nature. [ 2 , 3 ]
Mynavi News said the design architect is Kurain Daisamu Akitekutsu (クライン ダイサム アーキテクツ), which it said also worked on the design of Resonare Nasu's POKO POKO and of Resonare Shimonoseki. [ 2 ]
According to Mynavi News, the project uses the Park-PFI scheme, in which private-sector capacity is used to promote tourism in a park managed by Katsuyama city. A group of companies including Hoshino Resorts was selected in a 2021 public proposal competition. The company will also be involved in managing the whole park, and the hotel is the first project under a 2022 agreement the company signed with Fukui Prefecture on resort hotel development and operation. A second Mynavi News article, published on 22 October, covered the company's autumn 2026 online press event. It said the company has 82 facilities in Japan and abroad and that four new facilities are planned to open in 2027. [ 4 ]
