South Korea is forecast to have a cold morning on 23 October, the solar term Sangang, which Yonhap and Newsis describe as the time when frost falls. Yonhap said cold air coming in from the northwest would hold morning lows at 3 to 14 degrees. Most areas are expected to fall below 10 degrees, and northern Gyeonggi, eastern inland areas and inland and mountain areas of Gangwon to 5 degrees or lower. [ 2 , 6 ]

Daytime highs are expected at 18 to 23 degrees, so the gap between day and night is around 15 degrees, and Newsis advised readers to look after their health. Newsis said frost would form in places inland, and ice might form in parts of Gangwon, so farm crops need care. A Newsis report from Jeonbuk said frost and ice were possible in the northeast of the province, including Muju, Jinan and Jangsu. [ 2 , 6 , 10 ]

Rain is expected to start in Jeju in the afternoon and to reach South Jeolla and the Gyeongnam south coast at night. Forecast rainfall for 23 and 24 October is 30 to 80 mm in Jeju excluding the north and west, 10 to 40 mm in northern and western Jeju, and 5 to 30 mm in Gwangju, South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang. Yonhap also gave 5 to 20 mm for Daegu and North Gyeongsang and 5 to 10 mm for North Jeolla. [ 2 , 5 , 6 ]

Yonhap said the rain in the south and Jeju could continue until the morning of 26 October, and that some places in Chungcheong and the Gangwon east coast and mountains could see rain on the afternoon of Sunday 25 October. Newsis reported rain across Jeonbuk from the morning of 24 October to the afternoon of 25 October, at 5 to 20 mm. [ 2 , 10 ]

Yonhap linked the rain to Typhoon No. 30 Champi and to a subtropical high southeast of Japan, whose moisture meets the existing cold air. It said the typhoon passed about 620 km southeast of Taipei at 15:00 on 22 October at intensity 4. It was expected to turn toward Kyushu on the morning of 23 October and weaken as it moved north. [ 2 ]

Jeju is forecast to have gusts of at least 70 km/h, and at least 90 km/h in the mountains, from the afternoon of 23 October. Yonhap said this could disrupt flights and advised checking flight information, while Asia Economy and Newsis said a strong-wind warning might be issued. Yonhap also said wind and waves would rise on the sea south of Jeju and in the outer sea east of the South Sea, with waves up to 5.0 m or more by dawn on 24 October. It advised people to avoid the coast because of swells. [ 2 , 5 , 6 ]
