Sales of Russian software products in the first half of 2026 came to almost 3 trillion rubles, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the plenary session of the “Цифровые решения” forum in Moscow, according to TASS, Vedomosti and Interfax. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

Vedomosti said the figure was almost a third higher than in the same period of 2025, while Interfax put the increase at approximately 30%. [ 2 , 3 ]

“Our companies are increasing output of corporate application and system software,” Mishustin said, according to Interfax, adding that foreign solutions previously dominated this segment. He said Russian customers are moving to complex engineering software from domestic developers, including computer-aided design systems and systems for managing production and technological processes. The state co-finances part of developers' and customers' costs, including through industrial competence centres operating in 38 areas, he said. [ 3 ]

Also at the forum, Rostelecom launched the trans-Eurasian fibre-optic line TEA Next, Vedomosti reported. According to the operator, the line has a capacity of 96 dark fibres, uses G.654 optical fibre cable and can transmit more than 1 Pb/s. The report said such technologies are already used by Russian telecom operators, and that China, Mongolia and some CIS countries have shown interest in the line; it added that the line underlines Russia's transit advantages and has large export potential. [ 2 ]

Interfax cited earlier figures from the software developers association Russsoft: combined revenue of Russian software developers was 2.8 trillion rubles in 2025, up 14% year on year, with domestic sales up 17.8% to 2.28 trillion rubles and foreign sales up 11.3% to $6.3 billion. Russsoft forecast 17% revenue growth in 2026, with domestic sales up 18% and exports up 7%, or 9% in ruble terms, Interfax reported. [ 3 ]

Vedomosti also noted that on 29 September it was reported that microchips would for the first time be designed and tested entirely on Russian software, in a pilot project signed by the National Computer Corporation and NIIMA “Progress”, part of the Element group, at the “Микроэлектроника-2026” forum. The project is intended to confirm the possibility of a full design cycle for microwave integrated circuits without foreign solutions. [ 2 ]

Por qué importa

The figure was presented by the prime minister as evidence that Russian corporate and engineering software is replacing foreign products, with the state co-financing part of development costs. The TEA Next line is described by its operator as a transit route with export potential, with interest reported from China, Mongolia and some CIS countries. The documents give no independent assessment of either claim.

Aún sin aclarar

  • Details of the TEA Next line — capacity of 96 dark fibres, the use of G.654 cable and a maximum data rate of more than 1 Pb/s — are attributed to Rostelecom and reported only by Vedomosti. Single-source, company-provided technical figures that the other documents do not mention.
  • The documents do not state whether the first-half 2026 sales figure is measured on the same basis as Russsoft's 2.8 trillion ruble figure for all of 2025. Different periods and possibly different methodologies are reported without reconciliation.
