XPeng Group's robotaxi business has been officially named "Xiaopeng Youyou" (小鹏悠游) in Chinese and "XPENG YOYO" in English, the carmaker announced through its official account on the morning of 8 October, according to IT Home. 36Kr and Yicai also reported the new Chinese name, with 36Kr citing XPeng. According to the company's explanation, quoted by IT Home, the Chinese name refers to a relaxed travel experience, while the English name was chosen to be easy to read anywhere in the world and is described as the service's first step towards going global. IT Home reported that a mini program named "小鹏 YOYO 自动驾驶" (XPENG YOYO autonomous driving) went live at the same time, with internal test places for users opening gradually. Through the mini program, users can remotely adjust the interior temperature and fragrance of the car and preselect a music style before the ride, the outlet said. [ 1 ]
According to IT Home, XPeng Group obtained a road test permit for intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou in January this year and began regular L4 testing on public roads. In March it set up a robotaxi business unit to oversee product definition, research and testing, and operations. In May the first mass-produced robotaxi based on the XPeng GX came off the production line, and in July internal testing began, with chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng (何小鹏) taking the first ride. [ 1 ]
In August, He Xiaopeng said that robotaxis fitted with the company's second-generation VLA had completed more than 2,000 internal test orders in Guangzhou, covering the full process of a passenger demonstration service, IT Home reported. The company has finished developing a platform for remote takeover from the cloud and aims to run passenger operations without safety drivers next year. [ 1 ]
He Xiaopeng expects the Guangzhou robotaxi business to reach per-vehicle breakeven in the second half of 2027 at the earliest, according to IT Home. He said the deciding factor is not the size of the fleet but whether vehicles are dense enough within a given operating area, and that in smaller cities a few hundred robotaxis could be enough to break even. Почему это важно
The naming gives XPeng's robotaxi operation a public brand as it moves from testing towards commercial service, which IT Home's report places alongside the company's stated target of passenger operations without safety drivers next year. Two business and tech outlets in the top tier carried the announcement, though only as short items.
