Pocheon city in Gyeonggi province said its Hantangang Garden Festival, known as Garden Festa, has passed 1 million cumulative visitors since it first opened in autumn 2024. The city also put cumulative non-tax revenue from the festival at 4.6 billion won. Both figures were announced by the city and reported by Asia Economy and Yonhap on Tuesday. [ 1 , 2 ]
The festival combines gardens with the natural scenery of the Hantangang river and is held in spring and autumn with seasonal gardens, experience and performance programmes. The city cited the Y-shaped suspension bridge, which overlooks the river, together with the garden spaces as a main attraction. Programmes also included Pororo character content for families. [ 1 , 2 ]
Pocheon city attributed the result to offering new things to see and do each season, which it said raised the festival’s appeal and encouraged repeat visits. Yonhap described the event as having grown from something visitors pass through into one where they walk, take part and stay, and said the city had turned it from a one-time festival into a place people want to return to. [ 1 , 2 ]
The city said it will strengthen festival content and links with surrounding tourism resources so that visitors stay longer and spend more within the area. A Pocheon official said the city would raise the quality of the content and build the basis for visitors to remain in Pocheon and enjoy other parts of it, according to Asia Economy. [ 1 , 2 ]
Yonhap reported that the festival runs until November 1 at the Hantangang ecological landscape complex. Neither report gave a breakdown of visitors or revenue by season or edition, and no cost figures for staging the event were provided. [ 2 ]
Почему это важно
The figures are the city’s own measure of a festival it has positioned as Pocheon’s main tourism content, so they mainly signal how the local government intends to keep building the event and tie it to nearby attractions. The stated aim is longer stays and more spending inside the city. Beyond Pocheon, the numbers are a routine municipal tourism milestone.
