Disney announced that Super Bowl LXI will stream on Disney+ when the game is played on Feb. 14, 2027, according to CNBC, The Verge and Polygon. Subscribers in the U.S. will see the same broadcast airing on ESPN and ABC, and Disney+ will also carry the Spanish-language ESPN Deportes telecast, the Associated Press reported. The game will be available on Disney+ in more than 55 international markets, including Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, South Africa and Australia/New Zealand, the AP said, while the ESPN feed will also be carried in more than 130 countries and territories on linear platforms. ESPN will produce and carry the Super Bowl for the first time, and ABC will air it for the first time since 2006, according to the AP and Fox News. CNBC and Polygon reported the broadcast will feature Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, with Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge as sideline reporters. Fox News noted the game will be in Los Angeles and falls on Valentine's Day. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]
Disney+ will also stream two “Monday Night Football” games, the first between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26, with the second matchup not yet announced, the documents said. Polygon described the two teams as NFC East rivals, both then 2-2. The Walt Disney Company said advertising inventory for the Super Bowl is sold out; CNBC reported it was the earliest sellout in Super Bowl history, according to a press release, and the AP said Disney announced the sellout in August. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]
The announcement continues Disney's expansion of live sports streaming. CNBC noted the company launched a standalone ESPN streaming service last year and said in August that Formula E would be available to Disney+ subscribers from Dec. 18. CNBC, Polygon and Fox News placed the move in a wider contest for sports rights: Prime Video, Netflix and Peacock have streamed NFL games, this is the fourth consecutive year a Super Bowl is available on a streaming service, and YouTube pays roughly $2 billion annually for “NFL Sunday Ticket” through the 2029-30 season. [ 1 , 5 , 6 ]
One point of disagreement: the AP reported that ESPN announced the plan on Tuesday, while CNBC, The Verge, Polygon and Fox News described the announcement as coming Wednesday. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]
Why it matters
The move extends live sports onto Disney's streaming platform, following the launch of a standalone ESPN streaming service and the addition of Formula E content, and places the NFL's championship game on a streamer for a fourth consecutive year. For ESPN, the game is its first Super Bowl production, and for Disney it is a chance to draw subscribers in the U.S. and in more than 55 international markets.
