A British man suspected of attempted murder following an attack on a woman at a university in Seoul was arrested in the UK on October 8 local time, South Korea's National Police Agency announced on October 10. Police said the arrest came through cooperation with Britain's National Extradition Unit, nine days after the suspect fled abroad. The man, identified only as A in the reports and described as being in his 30s, allegedly attacked a woman he knew at about 11:50 a.m. on September 29 before leaving the country. Yonhap said the woman, in her 20s, sustained a minor injury to her neck. Hankook Ilbo placed the university in Seoul's Seongbuk district and reported that she received hospital treatment and was discharged that day, with no danger to her life. [ 3 , 5 ]
Police issued an Interpol red notice after the suspect fled and confirmed through international cooperation that he had entered the UK. Yonhap described a red notice as a request to law-enforcement authorities worldwide to locate and arrest a wanted person. A South Korean police liaison officer posted in Britain worked closely with the National Extradition Unit to establish the suspect's whereabouts, according to the police account reported by Yonhap.
