LG Electronics said on 21 October that it unveiled a new commercial system air conditioner, LG Multi V 7, at HARFKO 2026, the Korea international heating, cooling and air-conditioning exhibition. The exhibition opened that day at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Several outlets said the product was shown publicly for the first time at the exhibition. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 11 ]
Multi V 7 is a next-generation large-capacity VRF (variable refrigerant flow) system air conditioner. Its main feature is what LG calls dual AI, which combines on-device AI with cloud AI. According to the reports, the on-device AI learns and assesses the installation environment and the customer's usage patterns in real time and runs the unit accordingly. The cloud AI raises performance and stability through intelligent analysis and optimisation of operating strategy. Yonhap said this allows the unit to respond to changes in its environment and run itself optimally. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 7 , 11 ]
Maeil Business and Dong-A Ilbo also described an AI SmartCare function, in which the AI analyses virtual operating scenarios and proposes an operating cycle that takes comfort and energy efficiency into account. They also listed noise control that adapts to the surroundings and AI-based fault prediction and diagnosis. Yonhap, Maeil Business and Electronic Times said the product also has a design that blends with its space. [ 3 , 4 , 7 , 11 ]
The unit carries LG's new SPIN X compressor. LG said it improved the compressor's structure and added a 2-way oil supply structure and real-time oil condition detection, which it said raised heating and cooling performance, energy efficiency and operating stability. Several outlets said the gains were measured against earlier products, but none gave figures. Asia Economy described the compressor as the key part that compresses refrigerant in air conditioners and refrigerators. [ 1 , 2 , 4 , 7 , 11 ]
LG also built an exhibition space resembling a real home, with an outdoor-unit room, utility room, living room and bathroom. It presents a heat-pump-based solution linking cooling, heating and hot water for a whole house, and a heat-pump solution tailored to Korean apartment buildings. Maeil Business, Asia Economy and Dong-A Ilbo added that LG is also showing a smart air solution that links air conditioners, air purifiers and ventilation products to manage air quality and energy efficiency. [ 1 , 2 , 4 , 11 ]
In the AI data centre area, LG is showing chillers and fan wall units (FWU) for air cooling. Asia Economy, Maeil Business and Dong-A Ilbo said it is also showing liquid cooling equipment: coolant distribution units (CDU), cold plates that absorb heat directly from chips, and an immersion cooling solution with an immersion tank that is still in development. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 7 , 11 ]
Lee Jae-sung (이재성), president and head of LG's ES business headquarters, said LG will keep expanding advanced solutions based on core technology, which he called a differentiated component strength, in every area that needs cooling, from homes to commercial, industrial and AI data centre uses. Newsis said LG is treating its HVAC business as a future source of revenue. Dong-A Ilbo reported that LG raised the cooling capacity of its CDU from 650 kW to 1.4 MW at an April event in the United States and has set a target of 20 trillion won in HVAC revenue by 2030. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 7 , 11 ]
Why it matters
