SEHA, described in the coverage as a subsidiary of PureHealth, said its Al Dhafra Family Medicine Centre has been awarded the American Heart Association's Hypertension Practice Centre Certification. The state news agency WAM announced the certification in a headline, and Emirates 24|7 reported it in full, saying the award recognises the centre's structured, evidence-based approach to hypertension care. [ 1 , 2 ]
According to Emirates 24|7, the certification acknowledges the centre's work in hypertension management and cardiovascular risk reduction through prevention, early detection, patient education and long-term care for people with high blood pressure in the Al Dhafra Region. The report said hypertension is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke, making early diagnosis and effective management important in reducing cardiovascular risk. The centre's certified programme, it said, includes ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, patient education, multidisciplinary follow-up and continuous quality improvement. [ 2 ]
Hamad Khamis Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of SEHA Al Dhafra Hospitals, said the certification gives patients and families across Al Dhafra “confidence that hypertension care is delivered through a structured, evidence-based model focused on earlier detection, informed self-management, and consistent follow-up”. He added that it enhances the capacity to manage cardiovascular risk locally and promotes improved long-term health in the community. Dr Mariam Rashed Al Mehairbi, Chief Medical Officer of SEHA Al Dhafra Hospitals, said the certification was “the result of focused work by our clinical and operational teams over recent months” to strengthen hypertension care pathways, align practice with recognised international standards and support continuous improvement in patient outcomes, calling it an important milestone for the centre. Neither document states when the certification was awarded or describes the assessment that led to it, and neither includes any comment from the American Heart Association. The two reports differ in scope: WAM carried a headline only, while Emirates 24|7 provided the programme details and the officials' remarks. [ 1 , 2 ]
Why it matters
The documents frame the certification as recognition of a structured, evidence-based hypertension care model in the Al Dhafra Region, with hypertension described as one of the leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke. SEHA's Al Dhafra Hospitals CEO said it gives patients and families in the region confidence that hypertension care is delivered locally and consistently. The documents give no indication of wider impact beyond the centre's own patients and the health authority's operations.
