The China Earthquake Networks Center formally determined that a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck at 14:41 on October 20 in the directly administered area of Haixi Prefecture (海西州直辖区), Qinghai, at a focal depth of 10 kilometres, CLS reported. The formal epicentre was given as 37.80 degrees north, 95.65 degrees east. Yicai also reported a magnitude 4.6 quake at 10 km depth. [ 3 , 4 ]
Earlier, the centre's automatic measurement, carried by CLS at 14:46 and Jiemian at 14:52, had put the quake at about magnitude 4.7 at 37.74 degrees north, 95.59 degrees east.
