Lotte E&C launches AI voice control in smart home app, a first for Korean builders
Коротко
Lotte E&C said on Oct 7 it has introduced an AI voice recognition home network control service, which it described as the first of its kind by a domestic construction company. Residents can give commands such as “turn on the living room lights” or “set the air conditioner to 25 degrees” in the Lotte Smart Home app, without a separate AI speaker. The service, built jointly with Lotte Innovate, will start with lighting and air conditioning and later expand to parking location checks, community facility reservations and energy management, the company said.

Lotte E&C said on Oct 7 that it has introduced an AI voice recognition home network control service, which it described as the first of its kind by a domestic construction company. Under the service, residents speak directly to the Lotte Smart Home app on their smartphones — for example “turn on the living room lights” or “set the air conditioner to 25 degrees” — and the AI analyses the space, the device and the content of the command to control the device immediately through the home network, the company said. Control results such as light status and the set temperature appear on the app screen. [ 1 , 3 ]
The company said the service was built jointly with Lotte Innovate and is loaded on its existing home network system, Lotte Smart Home 2.0. Asia Economy reported that it is based on Lotte Group’s own AI platform, Aimember, and that this is the first case of the group’s AI technology being applied to an actual residential environment. [ 1 , 3 ]
Lotte E&C said it is starting with high-frequency functions — switching lights on and off and running the air conditioner or setting its temperature — and plans to extend the service to parking location checks, community facility reservations and energy management. Asia Economy reported that the previous smart home app required users to press through several menus step by step to turn on a single function, which made it effectively unusable for older residents unfamiliar with digital devices. [ 1 , 3 ]
The service will be applied in sequence to Lotte Castle and Le El complexes completed in the future, according to the company. A Lotte E&C official said the company will continue to expand AI housing products that customers can use more easily and conveniently, and will develop the offering into a “smart living platform” that organically connects various living services and housing data. [ 1 , 3 ]
Asia Economy also noted that Lotte E&C had previously developed an AI multilingual translation model with Lotte Innovate aimed at lowering language barriers among foreign workers at construction sites. [ 3 ]
Почему это важно
The service is presented by the company as the first case of a domestic builder putting group-level AI technology into an actual residential environment, without requiring residents to buy extra hardware. Lotte E&C says it plans to broaden the app from device control into a “smart living platform” linking living services and housing data, which points to smart-home software becoming a competitive feature in new apartment sales.
