According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the focus was about 50 km deep and the magnitude was estimated at 4.8. Nishi-Nippon Shimbun and Sankei Shimbun listed shindo 2 readings in Tsuchiura, Omitama and Kawachi in Ibaraki, and in Chiba City's Chuo Ward, Ichinomiya, Shirako, Nagara and Chonan in Chiba, among other places.
