Huawei Japan has released the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Sapphire Glass, a variant of its HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 smartwatch whose display uses sapphire glass. Keitai Watch gave the price as 21,780 yen, while Mynavi News and Impress Watch described it as an expected market price of around 21,780 yen. The model comes with a fluoroelastomer belt in black or pink, and Mynavi News reported the release date as October 5. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]

The watch keeps the base model's approximately 1.82-inch AMOLED display, which Mynavi News listed at 480×408 pixels and 347 ppi with maximum brightness of 2,000 nits and automatic brightness adjustment. Mynavi News put the aluminium alloy body at about 38 mm wide, 9.5 mm thick and 43 mm high, weighing about 27 g without the belt, with a side button and a crown for operation. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]

For outdoor use, the watch has a built-in barometer and measures altitude, total ascent and air pressure during workout modes such as mountain climbing, hiking and trail running, Mynavi News and Impress Watch reported. They said it supports offline colour map display without contour lines and can import third-party GPX route data for navigation during workouts. Positioning uses a sunflower-shaped antenna and a dual-band five-satellite system covering GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS; Mynavi News and Impress Watch attributed to the company's lab measurements a GPS accuracy improvement of more than 20% over the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3. Mynavi News listed continuous GPS battery time of about 18 hours in climbing mode and about 20 hours in walking mode. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]

Health monitoring includes mood monitoring that automatically records three states, sleep analysis that compares heart rate variability and other indicators with the user's past personal range, and detection of breathing disturbances during sleep, according to Mynavi News. It also records heart rate and blood oxygen levels, supports menstrual cycle management and health data sharing with family members, and offers more than 20 workout modes plus more than 100 custom workout modes, of which six activities including indoor and outdoor running and walking are automatically recognised. Notifications for calls, LINE and SMS, weather, music controls, alarms and Bluetooth calling are included; Mynavi News noted that storing music on the watch and quick replies work only when paired with Android devices, and the remote shutter only with iOS devices. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]

Battery life is about 10 days in normal use and about 7 days in heavy use, the company said, according to Mynavi News and Impress Watch. Mynavi News reported that the model is the first in the FIT series to support wireless fast charging, which the company says provides about one day of use from a 10-minute charge. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]

Why it matters

The launch adds a durability-focused option to Huawei's fitness watch line in Japan, aimed at users who take the device hiking or trail running. Because the coverage is limited to product specifications from the manufacturer's announcement, there is no information in the documents on sales targets, availability at retailers or how the model compares with rival watches.
