Nine of the most notable earthquakes were registered off the coast of Kamchatka over one day, Interfax reported on October 8, citing the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Kamchatka Krai. State news agency TASS also reported nine seismic events at Kamchatka over one day, and RIA Novosti reported nine earthquakes recorded there. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

Interfax also recalled an earlier report of a magnitude 5.6 earthquake on Wednesday afternoon in Avacha Bay, 76 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to instrumental data from geophysicists, tremors of up to five points were felt in the regional centre. None of the reports mentions damage or injuries. [ 3 ]
