China's software business revenue exceeded 10 trillion yuan in the first eight months of 2026, an increase of 8.8% from a year earlier, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported on October 8. Total profit in the software industry rose 1.3% over the same period. Software exports reached $45.99 billion, up 12.5%. Yicai and Jiemian, citing CCTV News, said the ministry described the software and information technology services industry as running well, with steady revenue growth and relatively fast growth in exports. By segment, software product revenue grew steadily, rising 6% year on year and accounting for 21.5% of the industry's total revenue. Information technology services revenue continued to grow and made up 68.7% of the industry's revenue; the reports did not give its growth rate.
