Belarus delivered a protest note to Ukraine following a drone attack on a truck in Russia's Bryansk region that seriously injured a Belarusian woman, RIA Novosti reported on October 9. Foreign ministry spokesman Ruslan Varankov (Руслан Варанков) said Belarus had grounds to consider the attack deliberate because the vehicle's affiliation was obvious. The note was handed to Ukraine's chargé d'affaires and said Kyiv had previously been warned against such actions, according to his account reported by the agency. [ 5 ]

In statements reported on October 8, the ministry described the attack as an attempt to escalate the regional situation and draw Belarus into the conflict. Kommersant and Vedomosti quoted Varankov, citing the BelTA agency, as saying it formed part of coordinated actions directed at involving Belarus. Kommersant reported that the regional governor announced an attack on a truck at about 11:30 Moscow time. The incident occurred on the Bryansk–Novozybkov road near the village of Smotrova Buda. [ 3 , 4 ]

Vedomosti reported that the acting regional governor said on the morning of October 8 that drones had attacked two trucks on that road: a driver was injured in the first and a female passenger in the second. The Belarusian foreign ministry said the woman required limb amputations. Kommersant and Vedomosti reported that she was in intensive care in extremely serious condition; Vedomosti also said she was on a ventilator. According to Vedomosti, Varankov said such incidents continued despite earlier warnings about the increased danger of travel to the region, and the ministry recommended that Belarusian citizens refrain from visiting the Bryansk region.
