Social Democrats leader Temirlan Sultanbekov (Темирлан Султанбеков) received seven years in prison. Kommersant and Interfax reported that the court ordered confiscation of both men's property. Interfax said Sultanbekov's sentence took account of an earlier conviction for vote buying. According to his account in the paper, the case was based on social media posts about rising food prices and energy problems. Interfax described the Social Democrats as an opposition political party founded in 2018 by supporters of the former president. [ 3 , 4 ]
