China's State Post Bureau said annual per capita express delivery use in the country exceeds 140 parcels, figures reported on October 9, the 57th World Post Day, by CLS, Yicai, 36Kr and IT Home. This year's World Post Day theme is "improving the postal service network, opening unlimited possibilities for the industry," according to the reports. The bureau said China has built the world's largest delivery network, with the widest coverage and the most beneficiaries. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

IT Home, citing CCTV News, reported that China continues to expand network coverage, and that hub clusters in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing region and central urban clusters have basically taken shape. Relying on a "hub plus corridor plus network" structure, more than 6,300 parcels per second, or an average of 540 million per day, enter the delivery system, the report said. It added that the average end-to-end delivery time and public satisfaction with express services continue to improve. [ 4 ]

In central and western China, 2,939 administrative villages in 17 pilot counties have gained express delivery service through postal backstop arrangements, and more than 81% of administrative villages have built village-level delivery and logistics service stations, IT Home reported. [ 4 ]

IT Home had earlier reported, citing State Post Bureau data, that daily parcel collection averaged 523 million from January to August this year, rose to 585 million a day after the start of September, and peaked above 610 million in a single day. [ 4 ]

Why it matters
