China's Human Resources and Social Security Ministry set out vocational training and certification targets for the 15th Five-Year Plan period at a State Council Information Office briefing on the morning of October 10. Deputy Minister and ministry spokesperson Li Zhong (李忠) said the ministry would increase investment in people and accelerate the development of a skilled technical workforce, China News Service reported. Li said the ministry would strive to provide 50 million subsidised vocational-skills training participations and achieve 40 million additional skill-certificate attainments, including 14 million at senior-worker level or above, during the plan period. He also said a programme to update the knowledge of professional technical personnel would train one million high-level, urgently needed and core technical professionals each year.
