According to police, A and the others are suspected of entering the villa of the victim, identified as B, in Pyeongni-dong, Seo District, at about 04:00 on 21 October. They are alleged to have taken a luxury watch, four mobile phones and other items worth about 10 million won. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

Seoul Shinmun reported that A knew B kept valuables at home. All the suspects wore masks during the crime and left in the car they had come in. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

Police began investigating after a report from B. They analysed and traced nearby CCTV footage and detained the five one after another at about 12:30, about eight hours after the crime. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
