South Korea's Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister's Secretariat published personnel appointments on October 6, 2026, according to notices carried by Yonhap and Hankook Ilbo. Yonhap reported the appointments at that office were at director level (과장급). The notices appeared between 16:49 and 17:33 local time. [ 1 , 3 ]

Hankook Ilbo published the fullest list. For the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister's Secretariat it named Kim Gwang-je as a seconded director in the Police Reform Promotion Team's System Improvement Division. It also listed director-level appointments at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety — Lee Seung-jae for the Local Tax and Revenue Information Division, Cho Jin-sang for Regional Economy, Lee Sang-jin for People's Livelihood Economy Support and Hong Ja-eun for Local Public Institution Management — and deputy-director promotions at the Ministry of Planning and Budget for Park Jung-min, who becomes Budget General Division head, and Jang Seung-dae. [ 3 ]

The Jeonnam-Gwangju Office of Education announced Grade 5 promotions for 16 officials, spanning the Gwangju Creative Convergence Education Institute, the Central Library, the AI Education Institute, primary, middle and high schools, and district education support offices. Hankook Ilbo also listed leadership posts at the Korea Educational Development Institute, the Korea Basic Science Institute and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, including the latter's vice presidents for small and medium enterprise business and for project finance. Appointments outside government included the newspapers Jungang Sinmun, Asia Today and Sports Seoul, and Chungnam National University and Korea Polytechnics, which named heads for its Gangneung, Asan and Iksan campuses. [ 3 ]

Newsis carried an item under the same personnel headline, but its article text concerned a separate matter: a briefing in which Blue House senior spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung said the Blue House was working to ensure there was no impediment to the public's full right to seek a trial, and urged the Chief Justice to honour the Supreme Court justice candidate recommendation committee's recommendation and proceed with the re-request procedure as quickly as possible. The Newsis article also carried the line “Cho Hee-dae: ‘the President cannot be involved’ — Blue House: ‘the re-request must be made quickly’”. The documents do not show the two subjects to be part of one announcement. [ 2 ]

Почему это важно

The notices fill and reshuffle posts at ministries, state agencies, public institutions, newsrooms and universities — routine moves that touch the bodies carrying out policy and research. The documents do not describe the responsibilities of those taking up the posts or any expected effect on policy or operations.

Пока неясно

  • The full set of appointments at the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Prime Minister's Secretariat. Only one specific posting at that office is named in the documents; Yonhap does not identify any individuals and Newsis does not carry the list.
  • Whether the Newsis item belongs to the same announcement as the others. Newsis published under the personnel announcement headline, but its article text concerns the Supreme Court justice nomination process instead, so the title and content do not match.
  • What follows the Blue House's call for the Supreme Court justice re-request process to be expedited. This rests on a single outlet, Newsis, whose article text is truncated in the documents.
