The judging panel said Sean had gone beyond one-off donations to practise “coexistence” with socially vulnerable people and, through giving that spans classes and generations, had realised a “peace solidarity” in society, according to Yonhap. The prize carries 10 million won, Yonhap said. A ceremony is scheduled for Nov 11 at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul's Jung-gu district, to be held together with a memorial marking the 10th anniversary of Han Yang-won's death. [ 1 ]
Yonhap reported that the Haepyeong Award was created to honour Haepyeong Han Yang-won (1923-2016), who founded the Korean National Religion Council and led it for about 30 years, and to promote a culture of coexistence and peace.
