The Economic Partnership Agreement between the United Arab Emirates and the Eurasian Economic Union officially entered into force on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, according to the state news agency WAM and business outlets Gulf News and Economy Middle East. The agreement establishes a preferential trade framework between the UAE and Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

Under the new regime, the UAE and EAEU countries will grant preferential access across more than 86 percent of tariff lines, covering approximately 96 percent of the value of the goods currently traded between the two sides, WAM and Economy Middle East reported. The agreement is designed to accelerate merchandise trade by reducing or eliminating customs duties across a broad range of products, streamlining trade procedures and addressing unnecessary barriers. It also sets out rules for customs cooperation, e-commerce, economic cooperation and the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in international trade. The agreement is expected to support an increase in annual trade between the two markets to nearly $50 billion by 2032. [ 1 , 3 ]

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said the entry into force “transforms strong commercial momentum into a practical platform for exporters, manufacturers and supply-chain partners.” He added that by improving market access, simplifying customs procedures and establishing clear rules, businesses would be able to move goods more efficiently and compete across a market spanning five Eurasian economies. The minister also said the agreement “reflects the UAE's commitment to open, rules-based trade” and would strengthen supply-chain resilience, support food security and create opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, automotive products, technology and precious metals. [ 1 , 3 ]

Gulf News reported in its headline that the deal took effect as bilateral trade hit $33.6 billion; the figure did not appear in the article text of the other documents. WAM said the agreement entered into force as trade between the two sides continues to expand, but its article text on UAE-EAEU non-oil trade was truncated. [ 1 , 2 ]
