Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on 9 October, according to a statement from Putin distributed by the Russian presidential press service. "Significant attention was given to the prospects for settling the Ukrainian crisis" during the call, the statement said. According to Interfax, the situation around Iran and various aspects of bilateral relations were also discussed. "While discussing the state of affairs in global energy, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and world markets. I am sure this will have a positive effect on the entire global economy," the statement said, as quoted by Interfax and Kommersant. The statement also said an agreement had been confirmed to continue personal contacts between the two presidents, as well as cooperation through presidential administrations, special services and other agencies. Kommersant reported that Trump, after the conversation, said Russia would "immediately" send more than 300,000 tonnes of fuel to the American and world markets, that deliveries would amount to 500,000 tonnes in November, and that another 1 million tonnes would follow right after. Interfax noted that Putin and Trump had already spoken by telephone several times this year, most recently on 8 September, when they exchanged views on the trips of US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Kyiv and Moscow on 5 and 6 September. Citing earlier reports, Interfax said Witkoff and Kushner were due to hold talks with Ukrainian representatives in the United States on 9 October to discuss comprehensive ideas for settling the conflict, and that they may visit Moscow by the end of October.
