ASML has agreed a uniform 10% increase in prices for lithography-machine replacement parts supplied to South Korea, according to Chinese reports published on October 10. IT Home, citing Korean outlet The Elec, reported that the new prices would apply to products delivered from January 2027. The increase covers all spare parts for extreme ultraviolet and deep ultraviolet lithography machines. CLS and 36Kr also reported the 10% increase and its scope. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]
According to the reports, ASML's headquarters sent the proposal to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix through its Korean operation in early September. The increase was finalised following negotiations with the two customers' procurement departments. IT Home reported that it covers regularly purchased consumables as well as important components requiring replacement because of faults or reduced performance. These include optical components such as lenses and mirrors, light sources and precision drive devices. The outlet said the change would increase daily equipment operating costs. [ 1 , 2 , 4 ]
IT Home reported that ASML had usually adjusted prices for particular parts when raw-material costs rose sharply or specific materials became difficult to obtain, describing the uniform increase as unusual. An industry source cited by the outlet attributed it partly to rising material prices and partly to ASML seeking more profit as customers earned more. The report said ASML's installed-equipment service, spare-parts and upgrade business generated 8.193 billion euros in 2025, or 25% of total revenue of 32.667 billion euros. ASML expected that business's revenue to grow by more than 30% this year, the outlet said. It also reported discussions with major customers about higher equipment selling prices. [ 2 ]
Why it matters
IT Home reported that higher spare-part prices would increase the machines' day-to-day operating costs. Industry sources cited in its report said other equipment and component suppliers could be more confident in seeking price increases after Samsung and SK Hynix accepted the proposal.
