The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group, part of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, has announced the winners of the 10th annual Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Awards, recognising organisations and individuals advancing sustainability and responsible business practices across sectors. Both the Abu Dhabi Media Office and Aletihad reported that the winners were announced at a ceremony marking the awards' tenth anniversary. [ 1 , 2 ]
An independent panel of expert judges evaluated entries and selected winners across six categories covering energy management, leadership, reporting, communication, management and sustainability initiatives. To mark the milestone, ADSG presented Dolphin Energy with the Decade of Leadership Award, which the announcement says recognises a decade of commitment to sustainability and the tangible impact it has delivered through partnership and innovation. [ 1 , 2 ]
ABB Power Transmission and Distribution won Best Energy Management Initiative, while Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri of ADNEC Group was named Sustainability Leader of the Year 2026. First Abu Dhabi Bank won Best Sustainability Report and the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi received Best Sustainability Communication Programme. Eng Jamal Mohammed Al Hadrami of Abu Dhabi City Municipality was named Sustainability Manager of the Year 2026, and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry won Best Sustainability Initiative. [ 1 , 2 ]
The judges also awarded Highly Commended to TA'ZIZ in the Best Energy Management Initiative category, Mohammed Ahmed Al Rayes of Dubai Municipality for Sustainability Leader of the Year, Emirates Global Aluminium for Best Sustainability Report, TAQA Water Solutions for Best Sustainability Communication Programme, Saqib Sajjad of ADNOC Gas for Sustainability Manager of the Year and the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) in a final category that is cut off in both documents. [ 1 , 2 ]
The state news agency WAM also reported the awards in a headline-only item, saying the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry won Best Sustainability Initiative — a win that the other two documents also list. [ 3 ]
Alongside honouring the winners and Highly Commended recipients, the documents state that the evening looked back on the awards' journey and their role in encouraging excellence, knowledge sharing and sustainability action in Abu Dhabi and the region. Aletihad's report repeats the announcement without adding independent reporting or comment. [ 1 , 2 ]
Why it matters
The awards are run by the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group within the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, so the winner list signals which companies and public bodies the emirate's sustainability body is highlighting. For the companies and government entities named, the recognition is a public marker of their environmental and reporting programmes, and the state news agency's separate report on the Abu Dhabi Chamber's win extends that signal to a wider official audience. The documents give no detail on the effect of the awards beyond recognition.
