Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi, riding nine-year-old Hudson de Vains, won individual jumping silver for the UAE at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Tokyo on Sunday, after a three-way jump-off at JRA Equestrian Park, the reports said. The result followed the silver won by Emirates riders in Thursday’s team final, WAM said, and closed the UAE’s jumping campaign at the Games, which ended on Sunday. The National said it took the UAE’s overall Asian Games tally to 12 medals — seven gold, four silver and one bronze. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]
In the jump-off, Qatar’s Faleh Alajmi went first and lowered a fence in 40.88 seconds. Abdullah, who entered the arena intending to deliver a clear round, increased his pace and faulted at a challenging oxer, crossing the line in 41.93 seconds, the reports said. The National reported that Saudi Arabia’s Khaled Almobty, the last rider to jump, lowered the final fence, confirming Qatar’s place atop the podium with Saudi Arabia taking third; the WAM account available does not state the final placings. Three other UAE combinations competed in Sunday’s finals. Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi and Mentos finished fourth in Competition A; WAM said he lowered the middle element of the triple combination, picking up four faults. Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi and Enjoy de la Mure finished sixth and Sheikha Latifah Bint Ahmed Al Maktoum and Cornet XL seventh in the newly introduced 1.55m Competition B. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]
Both Abdullah and Humaid had qualified with clear rounds in Saturday’s opening competition, WAM said, and were among 20 combinations to progress to Sunday’s Competition A final, where the fences were raised to 1.50m. Abdullah was 16th in the starting order and Humaid 18th, and WAM said Emirates Jumping’s four combinations all progressed to their individual finals. [ 3 , 4 ]
“I’m happy to finish second, but of course I could have been first. That’s the sport,” Abdullah said. “I’m so proud of Hudson. He’s just nine years old and still lacks some experience, but our competitions and training over the summer have really paid off.” [ 1 , 2 ]
Why it matters
The silver closed the UAE’s jumping campaign at the Asian Games in Tokyo, which ended on Sunday, and followed the team silver won four days earlier. The National said the result took the UAE’s overall haul to 12 medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, its final count of the event.
