Kia's EV6 GT took first place overall in a comparison of high-power electric cars by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, Kia said on the 22nd. The Tesla Model Y Performance was second with 576 points, 9 points behind. The Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD followed with 569 points, the Polestar 4 Coupe Dual Motor with 531 and the BYD Sealion 7 AWD Excellence with 508. Yonhap described Auto Motor und Sport as one of Germany's three major car magazines. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

The magazine scored the five cars in seven categories: body, safety, comfort, powertrain, driving performance, eco-friendliness and economy. The EV6 GT had the top score in safety (89), powertrain (105) and driving performance (96). [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

In driving performance the EV6 GT finished 20 points ahead of the Model Y Performance, which scored 76. In the 18 m slalom it ran at 67.6 km/h and in the double lane change at 132.9 km/h, the highest speeds among the cars compared. In safety, it stopped from 100 km/h in 34.5 m with cold brakes and 33.5 m with hot brakes, both the shortest of the group. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

In the powertrain category, the outlets said the car's maximum output of 478 kW (650 hp), its power delivery, regenerative braking, the range of regeneration settings and its one-pedal driving function were rated highly. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

Auto Motor und Sport said the EV6 GT won the comparison on the strength of its driving performance, according to all four outlets. Yonhap and Korea Economic Daily also reported the magazine's assessment that it was the only car in the group with a clearly sporty driving character. The magazine named the virtual gear-shift function and the drift mode as distinguishing features. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

A Kia official said the company would keep working to provide a differentiated electrified driving experience and reliable product quality. Maeil Business added that it remains to be seen whether the praise and the driving-performance lead lead to higher actual sales. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

Why it matters

The result is a third-party magazine ranking that Kia is publicizing, and the documents do not report any effect on sales. Maeil Business said it remains to be seen whether the praise and the driving-performance lead lead to higher actual sales.
