Коротко
PepsiCo has voluntarily recalled more than 122,000 cases of Gatorade in the US because the drinks contain undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 dyes, according to an FDA notice. The recall covers 28-ounce bottles of Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero, initiated on Sept. 25 and classified by the FDA as Class II on Oct. 2. PepsiCo has voluntarily recalled more than 122,000 cases of Gatorade because the drinks contain undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 dyes, according to a notice posted by the US Food and Drug Administration. ABC News, CBS News and The Guardian US all reported the recall, citing the FDA notice. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
The recall covers 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero. ABC News reported the products were distributed in more than two dozen states; CBS News and The Guardian US said the drinks were sold in 37 states and listed them, from Alaska and Alabama to Washington and Wisconsin. ABC News reported the affected bottles bear lot dates between April 2027, May 2027 and June 2027, and that a full list of lot dates and states is on the FDA website. CBS News gave the recall number as H-0009-2027. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
PepsiCo initiated the recall on Sept. 25, and the FDA classified it on Oct. 2 as a Class II recall. Under that classification, exposure to or consumption of the recalled drinks “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” or the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote, according to the FDA. ABC News reported that the FDA lists possible side effects of the dyes as a mild rash or allergic-type asthma, which it described as uncommon in the general population and more frequently seen among people who have allergic reactions to aspirin. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
PepsiCo did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to CBS News and The Guardian US; ABC News said it had reached out to the company, which owns Gatorade. CBS News reported that it was not known whether customers who bought the recalled drinks are eligible for a refund, and The Guardian US cited that report. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Почему это важно
The recall removes a widely sold sports drink from shelves in dozens of US states and puts a labelling failure at PepsiCo's Gatorade unit under federal scrutiny. For shoppers, the practical question of refunds is unresolved, and the FDA's Class II designation means the agency considers any health risk low but real for sensitive consumers.
