Версия 2: Seoul Economic Daily has added coverage confirming the case was assigned to Nowon Police Station and that officers questioned the complainant; no new facts about the contract itself emerged.
Коротко
Seoul police have begun investigating Choi Seung-ho, head of the Samsung Electronics branch of the Samsung Group's inter-enterprise labor union, over a contract for protest supplies placed with a company run by his father-in-law. Officers at Nowon Police Station summoned the complainant, Kim Soon-hwan of the civic group Seominmin Saengdaechaek Wiwonhoe, on Oct 6, after the group filed a complaint on Sept 10. Choi has acknowledged his father-in-law heads the company but denies giving or receiving undue benefit, saying the contract was based on comparing prices and delivery terms.

Seoul police have opened an investigation into Choi Seung-ho, head of the Samsung Electronics branch of the Samsung Group's inter-enterprise labor union, over a contract for protest supplies placed with a company headed by his father-in-law, according to Yonhap, Hankook Ilbo, Dong-A Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily. Seoul Nowon Police Station, which was assigned the case, summoned Kim Soon-hwan, secretary-general of the civic group Seominmin Saengdaechaek Wiwonhoe, for questioning as the complainant on Oct 6, the reports said. [ 1 , 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 8 ]
The civic group filed the complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Sept 10, according to Yonhap, Hankook Ilbo, Dong-A Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily. The group argued that Choi, given his position, should have excluded a family company and selected a vendor fairly and reasonably, rather than directing work to his father-in-law's company. [ 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 8 ]
The outlets do not agree on the charges named in the complaint. Yonhap, Dong-A Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily report breach of trust and obstruction of business, while Hankook Ilbo reports embezzlement and breach of trust. Dong-A Ilbo reported the contract covered about 370 million won worth of goods, the only figure given in the documents. [ 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 8 ]
Choi acknowledged that the head of the company in question is his father-in-law, saying that fact is true, but he denied the arrangement was intended to give undue benefit to himself or relatives. He said the contract compared actual terms such as price and delivery schedule. Hankook Ilbo reported that his side said he received no financial gain from the contract and that such contracts are now excluded altogether, and that the contract followed the formation of a joint struggle headquarters in March. [ 2 , 4 , 5 ]
The documents describe no finding of wrongdoing and do not say how the investigation will proceed. [ 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 8 ]

The coverage rests on a complainant's allegations and the union chief's denial, and no finding has been made.
