South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said on October 6 that policies for military service members should go beyond after-the-fact compensation and help them plan their lives. He made the remark while sharing reports that an amendment to the Basic Pension Act, passed by the National Assembly on October 1, will count the full military service period as national pension contribution time starting with those discharged next year.
