South Korean actress Choi Yu-hwa (최유화) shared her life as a new mother on social media, posting several photos with the caption that the day her baby turned six months old was the day she reached her goal of six months of breastfeeding. "I worked hard," she wrote of herself. Outlets differed on the date of the post: OSEN, in a report carried by Chosun Ilbo, said she posted on the 6th, Hankook Ilbo said the 5th, and Newsis said only that she posted recently. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
The photos showed her daily life with her son, including breastfeeding him in cafes and restaurants, which all three outlets said drew attention. OSEN wrote that this stood out because she is an actress. Newsis reported that one photo showed her son in a pose resembling Ponyo, the fish girl from the Japanese animated film. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Choi wrote that night-time childcare is hard but going out without bags is convenient, so she has decided to keep breastfeeding a little longer. She added: "All the mothers in the world, fighting." [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
In December last year Choi belatedly announced on social media that she had married and was pregnant. According to OSEN, her husband is not a celebrity, and she said at the time that she had held a private wedding earlier that year and had hoped to announce it together with news of a new project, but that "a precious life came first" while she was waiting for one. She gave birth to a son by natural birth in April, and OSEN reported that she later shared an account of the birth. [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]
Choi, a former model according to Newsis, debuted in 2010 in the KBS2 drama special 'Widaehan Gye Chun-bin' (위대한 계춘빈). Newsis and Hankook Ilbo listed her later television and film work, including the film 'Bimireun Eopda' (비밀은 없다). [ 2 , 3 ]
