Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 30,064 vehicles in the United States over a risk that front brake hoses could rupture and leak brake fluid, Chinese outlets reported citing information from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The reports said the leak could lengthen braking distances and increase collision risk. Dealers will replace the front brake hoses at no cost to affected owners. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]
Jiemian and IT Home listed certain 2022–2025 S 500 4MATIC, Maybach S 580 4MATIC, Maybach S 680 4MATIC and S 580 4MATIC vehicles, as well as certain 2023–2025 S 580 E 4MATIC vehicles. The outlets also listed an AMG S 63 variant for model years 2024–2025, although Jiemian named it AMG S 63 E Performance and IT Home named it AMG S 63 E 4MATIC+. [ 2 , 5 ]
IT Home reported that the vehicles have a dual-circuit braking system. If one circuit fails, the unaffected circuit can still maintain braking, but braking effectiveness would be significantly reduced, the outlet said. It reported that drivers would not notice warning signs before a hose ruptured. A red brake-fluid warning would appear on the instrument display only when the amount of leaked fluid reached the threshold for triggering the alert. [ 5 ]
The outlet also said authorised Mercedes-Benz dealers had received technical service instructions to replace both front brake hoses free of charge for affected owners. It reported that Mercedes-Benz would send owners recall notices by registered mail by November 27, 2026. CLS and 36Kr also reported the no-charge front-hose replacement, while CLS's later brief reiterated the vehicle total and increased crash risk from brake-fluid leakage. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]
