Commemorative sales marking the Hanshin Tigers' first back-to-back Central League titles began on Oct 4 at department stores and other retailers in the Kansai region, the day after the team clinched the title, according to Nikkei, NHK and Mainichi Shimbun. About 3,000 people lined up before the Hanshin Umeda main store in Kita-ku, Osaka, and the store opened at 9:15 a.m., 45 minutes earlier than usual, Nikkei, TBS NEWS DIG, Asahi Shimbun and Mainichi reported. [ 1 , 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]

Mainichi reported that a ceremony was held at the Umeda main store from 8:30 a.m., with team mascots Torakky, Lucky and Kiita taking part as officials broke open a kusudama to mark the league title. A banner about 33 meters long and 6.6 meters wide reading “renpa” — back-to-back — was put up on the south side of the store, the newspaper said. Asahi quoted store manager Morimoto Yosuke as saying the mood was buoyed by the repeat title and that the store wanted to respond to the fans' enthusiasm. [ 4 , 6 ]

At the Umeda store, more than 90 percent of floors took part in the sale, offering logo-bearing limited items, lucky bags and discounted goods including food, women's and men's clothing and sundries, Asahi reported. Livedoor News and Asahi reported a one-off jewellery set of a gold and coral necklace and ring priced at 22.2 million yen, and Livedoor said a 15-gram logo-bearing gold medal was offered online at 1.1 million yen. Livedoor added that supermarkets Hankyu Oasis, Izumiya and Kansai Super also prepared special prices and lucky bags. [ 1 , 4 ]

Sales run through Oct 10 at the Umeda main store and at Amagasaki Hanshin in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, Hanshin Nishinomiya in Nishinomiya and Hanshin Mikage in Kobe's Higashinada Ward, Asahi reported; Kobe Hankyu runs until Oct 6, and online sales are also available. Team original goods with the league-title logo go on sale from Oct 10 at a special space in the Umeda main store, Asahi said. Livedoor said three other Hanshin department stores are holding sales until Oct 10. [ 1 , 4 ]

Shoppers described the occasion. Asahi reported that Yamamoto Daisuke, a 26-year-old company employee from Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, watched the Oct 3 game at Mazda Stadium in Hiroshima and waited from 4:30 a.m., saying he wanted a limited watch and to be first once the title was decided. Livedoor reported that Nakagawa Taiichi, a 20-year-old university student from Yokohama who also queued from 4:30 a.m., said he was relieved by the title and wanted to buy a limited watch. Mainichi quoted Saito Nayo, a 47-year-old employee from Ritto, Shiga, saying she was happy because she remembered when the team struggled. TBS NEWS DIG reported one fan saying their “blood stirs” and that they had spent about 20,000 yen. [ 1 , 3 , 4 , 6 ]

Nikkei reported that Joshin, an official sponsor of the team, also began discounts on home appliances and other products, including through online sales. The same report said the turnout was roughly 10 percent higher than at the sale after the 2025 league title, though the available article text was truncated. [ 2 ]

Mainichi also reported that the area around Ebisubashi in Osaka's Dotonbori filled with celebrating fans on the night of Oct 3, and that Osaka prefectural police said 25 people in total jumped into the river from a nearby walkway. There were no injuries and no major trouble, the police account cited by the newspaper said. [ 6 ]

Почему это важно

The sales put a retail event at the centre of a domestic baseball celebration, drawing large crowds to a flagship Osaka department store and prompting a team sponsor to cut prices as well. The documents describe only the first day and the announced end dates, so the campaign's overall commercial scale is not yet clear.
