Canadian writer Anne Carson has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in literature, Russian outlets reported. The laureate was announced in Stockholm, according to Meduza and Kommersant, which said the Nobel committee there made the award. Interfax described Carson as a writer and poet. [ 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]

Meduza described Carson as a poet, philologist and specialist in ancient literature, whose legacy she actively uses in her poetry. Two of her books have been translated into Russian, under titles that translate as "Autobiography of Red" and "Bittersweet Eros", Meduza reported. It noted that last year's laureate was Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai. [ 4 ]
Two Nobel categories remain to be announced in 2026, according to Meduza: the peace prize laureate is to be named in Oslo on 9 October, and the winner of the economics prize in memory of Alfred Nobel, established by Sweden's state bank in 1968, on 12 October.
